Dorianne Allister Winkler studied Fine Art at the Instituto de Allende in Mexico and Concordia University in Montreal. Originally from Canada, she moved to Los Angeles where she worked as a professional musician and recording artist before moving to Hawaii.
A children’s educator for over fifteen years, she has been teaching conflict resolution skills to children in the Hawaii public school system and private sector. Her programs for the prevention of youth violence have been called innovative and insightful.
Presently, she is painting full time on Kauai, exhibiting with the Kauai Society of Artists and showing her works privately. Most recently she won the Robin Pearl Graphics Award at the 2009 Kauai Art Festival.
Also a founding board member of the Amicus Foundation, she presently lives with her husband in Hawaii where she works as an artist, poet, musician , and children’s writer.
